Easter and Fishing!

Easter weekend meant a fun trip to Bowling Green with our favorite friends Aaron and Lindsey!  They have been teaching us the fine art of.........MUSHROOM HUNTING!  This is only some of the Morel mushrooms we found over the weekend.  We had eaten some and left half with Aaron's family before I took this picture.

Dustin with our basket of mushrooms!  The only downfall to mushroom hunting......the TICKS!  I found 11 ticks on me and four had burrowed in.  I am now graced with some very NOT awesome bites that are extremely itchy!  Oh well!  We love the chance to get outside and hang out with friends.  We also had an awesome meal with our friend's family and played some Rook!  Overall it was an awesome weekend!
Yes you can totally be jealous of this next picture!  It is only April and this is how green it is in Missouri!  But don't worry you can laugh at me this summer while you enjoy 80 degree weather and I die in 100 degree weather and 80% humidity!
Today we went fishing on Little Dixie Resevoir for crappie (said crop-e).  We had a great time.  First up in pictures is Dustin.
 Next is Aaron!
 And of course me!!!!
Sadly Lindsey had to work, so I was the only girl on the fishing escapade!
This is me totally relaxing in the boat, trying to catch some sun.........oh and I about forgot.....trying to catch some fish too!  Excuse the horrendous white glare off of my very pasty white legs. They don't usually see much sun. :-)
Told you I was relaxing in the boat!  It was the perfect size for me.  I had an awesome back rest and my legs were the perfect length to stretch out!  It's not all bad being a shorty!
Final picture back on the docks with our 29 crappie.  Not a huge number, but not bad for just a few hours in the afternoon!

Spring Break 2012

So Spring Break has once again come and gone.  This is Dustin and I's last official spring break.  Next year he will be in clinicals and I will be working.  So we decided to live it up as much as possible.  We left Columbia Thrusday afternoon at 2 pm and drove straight through to Utah.  We got to Green River at about 4:30 a.m.  We had scheduled to look at some yearling heifers so we slept in the car (kind of) got up at 7 and headed on our way again.  After looking over the heifers we headed to Blanding.  Before we could go to the house, we had to head out to the farm so we could see all the baby calves.  With no time to rest, we went to help a neighbor with a sick cow and from there we went straight to a double header baseball game for Logan (He did awesome!).  You ask if we stopped for a rest yet.......yeah right.  Next Dustin and I parted ways.  I hopped in a vehicle with his parents and drove another 6 hours north!  (Yes I know I am crazy...but it gets worse!)  I arrived at Kris's house at about 2:30 a.m. and was up at 7 the next morning to enjoy my time with Kris, Randy, Parker, and Pailey!  Next we got the crazy idea to drive to Idaho to hang out with my mom and see my Grandma and Grandpa.  It's not like I hadn't driven enough all ready.  It ended up being a really fun morning and I couldn't have been happier hanging out with family.  That night we set up a family dinner at the Steak House in Garland to celebrate my parents 35 wedding anniversary.  What an awesome night with all my siblings and their families, except Ty and Becky (Montana is too far away). :-(  I can't even express what precious moments it was for me to celebrate and laugh with the majority of my family!  That night I stayed up talking until after midnight and then decided I HAD to go to bed before I fell over!  Sunday morning was the typical rat race to get everyone ready for church.  Kris was teaching and so we dropped off her and Parker at their church.  Parker was not very happy about me leaving so soon.  He almost started to cry and it broke my heart and also made me feel extremely loved all in the same moment!

Next I headed of to attend the baby blessing of Katie and Eric's new baby girl Kynlee Nicole!  I was so excited to meet her and to see all the family.  I was so excited that I ripped my dress getting into Kris's truck. OOPS!  Good thing my mother always taught me to be prepared.  I had a needle and thread in my purse and did a very quick very "at least you won't see things you shouldn't" job and still made it to sacrament meeting just in the nick of time.  The baby blessing was beautiful and the dinner after was so fun.  I got to hold little Kynlee and enjoyed every second of it.  I also got to color princesses with Aubrey.  Sadly no pictures.  Next was another 6 hour drive home.  So yes if you were wondering I drove 32 hours at the minimum in about 3 days!

When I arrived home the fun begun.  In our crazy life Fun = Cows!  Monday we fed cows and went for a drive looking for cows.  Tuesday we rode for cows with a neighbor and went to a baseball game.  Wednesday we bought the heifers from Green River and went to the cattle auction in Cortez.  Thursday we worked heifers (branded and bangs vaccinated) and hauled bulls to be Trich tested.  Friday we finished working heifers, branded calves for ourselves, and went to preg check a couple cows for a neighbor.  Saturday we did an emergency hernia surgery on a heifer.  Dustin did an amazing job and I am happy to say that so far no infection and the heifer is up and eating!  Way to go soon to be Dr. Meyer!  The next couple pictures are absolutely priceless.  Kelsi decided to come down for conference weekend and being the awesome person she is decided to come help us out at the farm!  Dustin talked her into preg checking a cow.  It was honestly one of the most entertaining 5 minutes of my life, but I have to give that girl credit!  She stuck with it and was so excited when she finally felt the calf!

So we sadly concluded our very busy but fun week.  But we didn't only do cows.  We also played some rook with friends, played some Mario Cart with family, and overall just enjoyed being back with family!  We got up at 5:30 Sunday morning and arrived in Missouri Monday morning at 12:30 a.m. just in time to catch a few hours of sleep and leave for clinical the next morning.  Thank goodness we are still young enough to pull this kind of stunt!  And just to end I couldn't help but add a cute picture of my incredible husband!
