Can't believe it's been since October....

Really didn't mean to let my blog sit this long...... Guess that proves that time really does fly!  In order to save time and space I decided to paste my Christmas letter in here to catch up for the most part.  If you have allready seen it, just ignore.  If you haven't enjoy!!!

Meyer Madness in 2011!!

Dustin: Successfully completed his 1st year of Vet School and is halfway through his second. HOORAY!!  By this time next year he will be in clinical and we will be on the downhill slope of completing Vet School!  DOUBLE HOORAY!  Dustin continues to play basketball 3 times a week and with the addition of some awesome new friends now enjoys duck hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, canoeing, playing tennis, and whitetail hunting.  We couldn’t have asked for better friends and we love spending time with them.  It has definitely made Missouri a lot more enjoyable to have outdoorsy friends that have similar interests.  Dustin also serves in the Primary as a CTR 7-8 teacher.  He is a major help to Kelli for projects and is becoming a very creative chef!  Dustin was able to go home to Blanding for 7 weeks this summer and did his best to work extremely hard and play even harder.  He spent a lot of time on the hay hauler and moving sprinkler lines, but also found time for softball tournaments and plenty of trips to Lake Powell for overnight fishing!

Kelli:  Took a big leap and left the full-time working life to return to nursing school at the University of Missouri.  She started a 15-month accelerated program to get her Bachelor’s of Nursing.  This was very intimidating after being out of school for almost 2 years but she worked hard and with Dustin’s support adjusted pretty quickly.  Kelli is officially half way done with her program on December 16th and will be done in July 2012!  Kelli also serves in the Primary as the 2nd counselor.  She works with amazing people and really enjoys her calling.  She has some very rambunctious but very sweet kids in her Primary and she couldn’t think of another calling that she would rather have right now!  As for home life, Kelli tries to keep up with laundry, dishes, cleaning, cooking, buying groceries, and maintaining the sanity in the Meyer home with lots of help from Dustin.  Kelli loves to hang out with her new friends and has enjoyed girl shopping trips and sleepovers while the boys go hunting!  But the boys weren’t the only ones to go hunting this year!  Kelli shot her first whitetail deer with one shot from 200 yards away.  Dustin was pretty excited that Kelli didn’t miss since she hadn’t shot a gun for a while!

Together our little family is doing extremely well.  We made it to 3 very happy years of marriage in May and can’t wait for the adventures of the years to come.  Another of our highlights of the year included putting in our first garden in our own backyard.  We called it our “Salsa Garden” because we only planted tomatoes, peppers, and jalapeƱos!  In the end we got over 200 peppers (WOW) and we are still eating tomatoes off the plants.  I haven’t had to buy tomatoes since August!!!  I would say our effort was worth the reward!  We also attended our first Major League baseball game with Kelli’s parents.  We had a blast watching the Cardinals and decided we must be good luck because the Cardinals ended up winning the World Series.  We might just have to go back next year!

We feel very privileged to be where we are and in the great situation we have found ourselves in.  We like to complain about school and studying and tests, but in the long run these four years will be a small but important part of the rest of our lives.  At this time of year it is hard not being close to family, but we are so grateful for dear families on both sides that bless our lives so much.  The true meaning of Christmas is being with family and having a true love of Christ for all those we meet.  We truly wish you a very Merry Christmas and even though we are a long way away we hope you know that you are dear to us and that we think of you often.  Merry Christmas!

Sorry for no pictures.....camera is out of commission with not much hope of getting fixed in the near future.  Current updates for 2012 include a whole lot of studying and not much else.  Dustin and I are creeping through the semester with hopes that summer with arrive quickly.  We are keeping extremely busy with Primary, clinicals, class, tests, playing with friends, and working out (mostly Dustin ).  We are super excited about starting tomatoes for our AWESOME little garden in the backyard.  I think we are going to be a little more aggressive with fertilizing and such and see if we can get an even better crop!  I so need a lot of tomatoes so I can make hot sauce!  I am almost out and the store bought stuff just doesn't compare!!!

Well I hope everyone that hasn't given up on my blog and actually see's this is doing great and enjoying 2012!
